Successful Production Uptake and Final Acceptance for Litho Line No. 2 at Bridgnorth Aluminium

BWG Bergwerk- und Walzwerk-Maschinenbau GmbH, Duisburg, recently completed an order to supply one of the most modern lithographic lines in the world.

Final acceptance was granted in July 2016 for Litho Line No. 2 of Bridgnorth Aluminium Limited, headquartered in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, UK. BWG supplied and successfully commissioned the equipment, including all the mechanical and electrical components, to the agreed timescales and the new line was able to start production with an especially fast lead-time. Since then it is successfully producing the expected premium lithographic product quality.

Litho Line No. 2 is already the second line supplied by BWG. Thanks to this addition, the production capacity for lithographic strip at Bridgnorth Aluminium has increased by 75,000 t/a.

Litho Line No. 1 started production in 1990 and was supplied to then Star Aluminium. BWG modernised this line some years ago, installing a high-precision side trimming shear to meet the latest technological standards.

The newly supplied stretch-levelling line, designed as a patented Pure-Stretch-Levelflex® processing line with chemical degreasing and high-precision side trimmer, offers the latest cutting-edge technologies in the fields of tension-levelling, cleaning and side trimming as well as other developments by BWG. The Pure-Stretch-Levelflex® process was further advanced and the complete winding station re-designed and coupled to a drum shear and a directly driven exit accumulator.

These new developments proved their efficiency immediately after the start of production and define the new level of state-of-the-art technology for future BWG lithographic lines.
