Upgrading of the existing tandem two-high temper mill in the cold rolling mill at Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH
Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH, a subsidiary of the German Salzgitter Group, has placed an order with BWG Bergwerk- und Walzwerk-Maschinenbau GmbH for the upgrading of the existing tandem two-high temper mill in the cold rolling mill into a continuous two-high temper mill.
The scope of supply comprises the complete mechanical and hydraulic line equipment, installation, commissioning as well as the dismantling of equipment that will no longer be in operation. The supplied electrical and automation equipment comes complete with all required controls, process controls and safety features. The existing systems are readjusted accordingly.
The far-sighted design for the modernization of the two-high tandem mill also includes the construction of a new entry section complete with welding machine and entry accumulator to guarantee the continuous operation of the line as well as the following equipment: • Coil conveying system with automatic strap removal • Uncoiler unit, incl. auxiliary unwinder • Entry unit with flattener • Cross-cutting shear and scrap removal system • Complete strip run with deflector, bridle and steering rolls up- and downstream of the accumulator
The line configuration allows for full-blown testing of the entire entry with a temporary recoiler unit. It is only after the successful commissioning of the new line equipment that the two-high temper mill revamp will be completed during a short downtime. The aim of these measures is to increase product quality and optimize output.
The first strip is scheduled to be produced at the end of 2013.
